The Fit Learning Difference

Is Fit right for your child?

When it comes to educational support for your child, there are endless options. Let’s look at what makes Fit Learning different than other tutoring programs!

APPROACH

Though Fit Learning falls in the tutoring category, other than targeting academics, we really don’t liken ourselves to other tutoring programs. We are not a homework help center. We use our extensively researched Fit Learning curriculum to pinpoint breakdowns in a learner’s academic skill set. Our goal is to identify and target the precise skills a learner needs to succeed. Additionally, our criteria for mastery is fluency (accuracy + speed). We know that learners who are fluent in core academic skills are better set up for success as the material gets more difficult.

TRAINING

We hold our staff to the highest standards. On average, new Learning Coaches spend 1-2 months in training before working independently with a learner. Our coaches are fluent as both learners and coaches in all of our subject matter. Additionally, we train Learning Coaches in principles of behavior, direct instruction, and precision teaching. Once certified as a learning coach, we perform ongoing checks to make sure sessions are implemented with the highest integrity!

SESSIONS

Our Fit Sessions are 50 minutes of highly engaging work at a learner’s exact level. We don’t lecture – we provide efficient concept instruction and spend the bulk of our time in targeted practice. Learners experience reinforcement throughout the session for “personal bests”. What’s a personal best? Learners earn these for increased correct answers, decreased errors, or consistent performance. Using points earned from personal bests, learners can buy all kinds of prizes from our prize wall. After all, we want to reward them for their hard work!

RESULTS

Most notably, our Fit Learning results set us apart from other tutoring programs. Our evidence-based approach yields an average of 1 year’s worth of growth in 40 hours of instruction. What does this mean? Learners are gaining an average of 25%ile points or more on norm-referenced assessment measures. These assessments allow us to assess learner progress and give you a percentile ranking when compared to peers in a given grade level.
